2017 Wildfire Storm 

On October 9th, 2017  a series of wildfires that burned across Northern California. A total of 8,602 fires have burned 1,089,971 acres (4,410.96 km2), according to the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection.[1]

Mountain Volunteer Fire Department Holiday Open House and Fundraiser

Bring your appetite and dancing shoes for a fun and festive community event in a beautiful venue! All proceeds from this event will be used to purchase much needed updated wildland firefighting equipment.

Tony Albright graduated from  the Basic Volunteer Firefighter academy at SRJC Public Safety Training Center in Windsor. Graduation was on Saturday October 29th.

Captain Jeff Lemelin  and Firefighter Caroline Upton have been hired as part-time fire and EMS instructors by Sonoma County Fire and Emergency Services Department. They will be teaching at Mountain as well as at other volunteer fire departments in Sonoma County.

Mountain VFD initiated and County Fire funded a Low Angle Rope Rescue Operations (LARRO) course over Labor Day weekend. This 3 day 24 hour State Fire Marshall approved course was conducted at Pepperwood Preserve and attended by 16 firefighters from throughout Sonoma County. Dan Bull was the primary instructor and Chief Loren Davis and Captain Jeff Lemelin were assistant instructors.

Firefighters Clint St.Martin and Caroline Upton participated in a recent Urban Shield exercise in Alameda County. This is an annual event that encompasses five days of training that simulates regional response to large scale disasters and terrorist attacks with fire, law, EMS, USAR, EOD, local civilian emergency managers, and various branches of the military.
